That was fast.  The Kenai Lowe’s closed down just like that Sunday night.  I feel bad for the employees – they were a focus of our staff prayer meeting this week  Afterwards, we were talking about people we knew who had lost work and the difficulties in finding work.  The conversation switched over to how we like/disliked Lowe’s vs. their competition.  We also wondered what would happen to orders for goods that hadn’t been delivered yet.  Then, we began listing the things that we had planned to get a Lowe’s, but hadn’t yet.  The reasons for those were many, were logical and were reasonable.  Those plans are now tossed aside, undone by items out of our control.  Sound familiar?

James 4:13-17 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”—  yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.  Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”  As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.  So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

Today, make sure you do that thing you have been putting off.  Make the phone call, tell your children you love them, etc.  You’ll be glad you did it – today.
